Mihle Wendy Malaya (1996 -)
Mihle grew up and currently lives in Khayelitsha, Cape Town. She joined Spier Arts Academy as a Mosaic Apprentice in 2015. Since graduating, Mihle has continued her studies in Project Management.
“Mosaic is a very beautiful and rare kind of art where I'm coming from. I find it fascinating how we work as a group but in the end, it all comes together as if it was produced by an individual. “
Mihle hopes to one day own a Mosaic Studio and Gallery where she would like to share her skill with other members of the community.
“Mosaic has taught me patience and endurance. That the end-result you wish to achieve can take time. That sometimes in life you'll built towards your desires, and it might be tough and rough but one piece at a time draws you closer to your achievement. Most of the time, achievements are "painful" and this reminds me of all the cuts on my fingers whilst completing my mosaic pieces.
The other impact Mosaic had in my life is that it has taught me the ability to be by myself and a team player at the same time. I feel this is crucial when you get to the real world, even in a work environment, to be able to participate when required to and to do things by yourself when needed. I love mosaic. But most importantly, I love the life lessons it teaches every individual doing it.”
